Most collagen supplements stop at collagen. This formula does not. Frequently asked questions

Does this product contain collagen from animals or fish? The collagen in this formula is type I marine collagen — derived from fish (specifically fish skin and scales). The capsule shell is HPMC, a vegetable cellulose, not gelatine. The product is therefore not vegan or vegetarian due to the marine collagen content. It is free from bovine or porcine collagen sources.

What are nucleotides and why are they in a collagen supplement? Nucleotides are the molecular building blocks of DNA and RNA. Nutritide® is a concentrated extract of 5′-ribonucleotides derived from yeast RNA. Connective tissue cells — which produce and maintain collagen, cartilage and bone — have a high rate of cellular turnover and can have elevated nucleotide requirements.

Is the zinc in this formula well absorbed? Yes. Zinc is provided as zinc citrate — an organic form of zinc that is significantly better absorbed than inorganic forms such as zinc oxide or zinc sulphate. Zinc citrate is also gentler on the digestive system and less likely to cause the nausea that inorganic zinc forms can cause when taken with food.

Is this product suitable during pregnancy? No. The manufacturer's guidance states this product is not suitable for use during planned pregnancy, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor or midwife for advice on appropriate supplementation during these stages.

Why do the capsules need to be taken with food? Taking supplements with food generally improves tolerance, reduces the chance of nausea, and can support absorption of fat-soluble and protein-bound ingredients. Splitting the dose across two meals also provides a more sustained daily supply of the nutrients.
